Jack Snelling is the Member for Playford.
He was first appointed to the Labor Ministry on 25 March 2010, and stepped down from the Cabinet in September 2017.
Jack's portfolio responsibilities have included Minister for Health, Ageing, Mental Health, Defence Industries and Veterans’ AffairsTreasurer, Minister for Science and Information Economy and Minister for Road Safety.
Jack was first elected to the South Australian Parliament in 1997 as the Member for Playford, representing the people of Ingle Farm, Para Hiils, Pooraka and Walkley Heights.
Jack is married to Lucia with six children - Molly, Helena, Frank, Joe, Peter and Thomas.
He enjoys cooking, reading, playing chess with his children, listening to classical music and training at the Para Hills Amateur Boxing Club.
Sir Thomas Playford (1896-1981) was Premier of South Australia from 1938 to 1965, a record term. His objective was to change the basis of the State's economy from an over-reliance on primary industry to an industry based footing. The Whyalla steel-works and ship-yard, the Port Stanvac oil refinery, the Housing and Electricity Trusts were established in his time.

Location: Situated some 10 km north-east of the Adelaide CBD. Largely residential with some light industry.
